Nestlé Wellness Campus Program: A Comprehensive Guide

The Nestlé Wellness Campus Program, a collaborative effort between the Department of Education (DepEd) and Nestlé Philippines, Inc., aims to promote a healthier lifestyle among public school students. This program offers a range of activities and resources to educate students, teachers, and parents on healthy eating habits, physical activity, and environmental responsibility.

Program Objectives

The primary goals of the Nestlé Wellness Campus Program are:

  • Promote good nutrition and active lifestyles: Encourage students to make healthier food choices and engage in regular physical activity.
  • Educate on healthy habits: Teach students and parents about seven essential healthy habits: choosing nutritious food, managing portions, drinking water and milk, being active, enjoying meals together, maintaining good hygiene, and caring for the planet.
  • Support wellness of educators and parents: Provide resources and support to teachers and parents through the Nestlé Wellness Campus Facebook Communities.

Coverage and Duration

The program covers Grades 1-10 in all public schools across eight regions in the Philippines:

  • National Capital Region (NCR),
  • Region 4-A (CALABARZON),
  • Region 5 (Bicol),
  • Region 6 (Western Visayas),
  • Region 7 (Central Visayas),
  • Region 8 (Eastern Visayas),
  • Region 10 (Northern Mindanao),
  • and Region 11 (Davao Region).

The program runs from July 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.

Program Mechanics

The Nestlé Wellness Campus Program is implemented through the following components:

1. Nutrition Education

  • Video modules: Nestlé provides video content on nutrition that can be integrated into MAPEH curricula.
  • Parent education: Modules are also available for parents to learn about healthy eating and food labels.
  • Worksheets and activities: Students and parents can work on worksheets and activities together.

2. Nestlé Wellness Campus Dancercise

  • Dancercise materials: Nestlé provides music and choreography videos for schools to use as warm-up exercises.

3. Nestlé Wellness Campus Contests and Recognition

  • Inter-school competitions: Students, teachers, and parents can participate in various competitions, including dance contests, cooking competitions, and best-implementing school awards.
  • Recognition: Winners will receive prizes and recognition for their achievements.

Program Implementation

The program is divided into three parts:

  • Nutrition Education: This component focuses on providing students and parents with educational materials on healthy eating habits.
  • Nestlé Wellness Campus Dancercise: Schools are encouraged to use the provided dancercise materials as part of their physical activity programs.
  • Contests and Recognition: The program features various competitions to engage participants and recognize their achievements.

S.Y. 2024-2025 NESTLÉ WELLNESS CAMPUS CONTESTS AND RECOGNITION

Inter-Schools Division Category

The school year 2024-2025 marks the second year of the NWC Program's implementation of the inter-division competition, aimed at recognizing the Schools Division that demonstrates excellence in program implementation.

The Inter-Schools Division Category will have two levels:

  • Regional level
  • National level

In the regional level competition, the winner will be determined based on the implementation of NWCP in the division and the performance of the schools representing the division. The winning division will be declared the Outstanding Schools Division of the Year, and the corresponding focal person assigned will be declared the "Outstanding Focal Person of the year."

In the national competition, only the division with schools representing the region to the National level competition will qualify. The top three (3) divisions will be chosen based on the program implementation and scores gained by their schools representing the region. The division focal persons of the top three divisions will be declared the National Outstanding Division Focal Person of the Year, First-runner up, and Second runner-up respectively.

Criteria for the Regional Competition:

  • Part 1: Program Implementation (70%)
    • Student and Parent Module: 70%
    • Dancercise implementation: 30%
  • Part 2: Rank of Schools in the Regional Competition (70%)
    • NWC Hataw Sayaw Year 2: 40%
    • NWC Best Implementing School: 40%
    • Sarap Sustansya Cook Off: 20%

Criteria for the National Competition:

  • Part 1: Program Implementation (70%)
    • Student and Parent Module: 70%
    • Dancercise implementation: 30%
  • Part 2: Rank of Schools in the National Competition (70%)
    • NWC Hataw Sayaw Year 2 F2F: 30%
    • NWC Hataw Sayaw-People's Choice: 20%
    • NWC Best Implementing School: 30%
    • Sarap Sustansya Cook Off: 20%

  • Regional Winner: One (1) winner per region, Outstanding Schools Division in the Region: Ps.50,000.00

In S.Y. 2024-2025, the Nestlé Wellness Campus Best Region of the Year award will be awarded to the DepEd regions that have demonstrated exceptional performance in implementing the program.

  • Part 1: Program Implementation (50%)
    • Implementation of modules for students: 30%
    • Implementation of modules for adults: 25%
    • Implementation of Dancercise: 25%
    • Submission of Certificate of Completion: 20%
  • Part 2: Overall Score Gained by Schools and Divisions Representing the Region in the National Level Competition (50%)
    • NWC Hataw Sayaw Year 2-F2F: 30%
    • NWC Hataw Sayaw People's Choice: 15%
    • Sarap Sustansya Cook Off: 15%
    • NWC Best Implementing School: 30%
    • NWC Best Schools Division of the Year: 10%

Note:

  • Assigned DepEd Division Supervisors will ensure that participants are legitimately enrolled Grades 1-6 and Grades 7-10 students.
  • For a region to achieve the maximum score per criteria, 100% of the schools in the region must implement the video modules for students and parents, implement the dancercise, and submit the duly signed certificates of completion.
  • Wellness Ambassadors from GTI, together with the duly assigned DepEd Division Supervisors, will monitor the schools in their respective divisions to validate the school implementation.
  • The validation period will be announced separately.

NPI/GTI shall have the absolute right to change the mechanics to ensure the successful and orderly implementation of the Program upon prior notice to the participants.
