A Call to Action: Investing in the Philippines' Future Through Education


In his recent speech, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. affirmed his commitment to improving the Philippines' basic education system. He praised the Department of Education's (DepEd) Agenda, presented by Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte, for its candidness and comprehensive approach.

The President highlighted several key areas of focus, including:

  • Improving teacher quality and well-being: The DepEd is working to ensure that teachers are well-trained, highly motivated, and well-paid. This includes providing them with professional development opportunities and increasing their salaries.
  • Enhancing the curriculum: A new K to 10 curriculum is being piloted in various regions. This curriculum aims to de-congest the current curriculum and emphasize foundational skills.
