Beyond the Byline: The Journey of NSPC Champion James Gabriel Regondola

"Sobrang nakakataba po ng puso na makarating po ulit ng NSPC 2024 matapos ang anim na taon ko pong pagsasanay, pananalangin, at paghihintay."

These are the heartfelt words of James Gabriel Regondola, a testament to his unwavering dedication to journalism and his remarkable journey towards achieving his dreams. From his humble beginnings at Vinzons Pilot High School in Camarines Norte, James embarked on a path that led him to become a champion in Campus Journalism.

In 2018, James made history as he stepped into the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) in Dumaguete City for the first time, clinching the championship in Editorial Writing for elementary students. This pivotal moment ignited a fire within him, fueling his ambition to return to the nationals year after year.

Despite the challenges he faced along the way, James remained undeterred. With the unwavering support of his mother, school paper advisers, and his school community, he persevered through rigorous training and countless setbacks. Reflecting on his journey, James expressed profound gratitude: "Super grateful po ako sa love and support na pinadama sa akin mula po noon ng aking ina..."

James credits his school paper advisers for recognizing his potential early on and nurturing his talent in Campus Journalism. Their belief in him propelled James forward, reinforcing his resolve to excel in his craft and inspire others. "Sila po ang unang naka-discover ng potential ko sa Campus Journalism as a writer kaya nagpapatuloy po ako dahil patuloy silang naniniwala sa akin na kayang-kaya ko," he shared.

As the Most Outstanding Campus Journalist of Camarines Norte, James has become a beacon of inspiration for aspiring young journalists. Beyond his accolades, he remains committed to empowering the next generation. He advocates for greater financial support to help young journalists realize their dreams of participating in NSPC 2024: "Hindi maitatangging magpahanggang ngayon ay kailangan natin ang suportang pampinansyal para tumungo ang mga bata sa NSPC 2024..."

While James had received an admission offer from the New York University - Arthur L. Carter Institute of Journalism, financial constraints have temporarily placed his academic aspirations on hold. Nevertheless, he continues to contribute to Philippine culture and arts as a writer, showcasing his dedication to storytelling.

Offering advice to fellow dreamers, James emphasizes the importance of consistency in achieving success as a Campus Journalist: "Consistency po ang susi ko sa tagumpay as a Campus Journalist... tayo po ay magwawagi — whether sa contest or sa tunay na buhay."

James Gabriel Regondola's story is not just about winning competitions; it's about resilience, passion, and the transformative power of journalism in shaping young minds. As he looks forward to NSPC 2024, James remains a testament to the belief that with determination and unwavering support, dreams can indeed become reality. His journey serves as an inspiration to all who dare to dream and strive for excellence in their chosen endeavors.
