DepEd Philippines Hosts Second Part of National ICT Month Webinar Series on Education

June 27, 2024 - The Department of Education (DepEd) Philippines is capping off National ICT Month 2024 with the second part of its webinar series on "Bayang Digital, Batang MATATAG, Bagong Pilipinas" (Digital Nation, Empowered Youth, New Philippines) this Friday, June 28th.

This free online event focuses on equipping educators and stakeholders with the knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving digital landscape in education. The webinar series is a timely initiative considering the Philippines' K to 12 curriculum's emphasis on 21st-century skills, which include digital literacy and ICT proficiency.

The second session dives deeper into three key areas:

  • Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies: With the growing dependence on technology in classrooms, understanding cybersecurity threats and best practices is crucial. Experts will discuss how to protect student data, identify online risks, and promote responsible technology use.
  • Competency and Skills Frameworks: The session will explore how the Philippine educational system is adapting to prepare students for the demands of the digital workforce. Discussions on competency-based learning and the integration of relevant ICT skills are expected.
  • The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education: AI is rapidly transforming various sectors, and education is no exception. The webinar will delve into how AI can be harnessed to personalize learning experiences, automate administrative tasks, and enhance student assessment.
