✝️ Jesus’ Body Found? Unraveling the Shocking Archaeological Discovery That Could Change Christianity Forever

In a discovery that could potentially rewrite religious history, a team of archaeologists claims they may have found the body of Jesus in a tomb just outside of Jerusalem. The implications of this finding are staggering, prompting theologians, historians, and scientists alike to re-examine long-held beliefs about the resurrection of Jesus , the cornerstone of Christian faith . 🏺 The Tomb Discovery: A Hidden Chamber Beneath the Old City The site, located beneath an unmarked stone structure buried deep under layers of sediment, was uncovered after a seven-year excavation project aimed at exploring lesser-known burial sites from the first century CE. According to the team’s preliminary report, the chamber contained a well-preserved ossuary— a limestone bone box —with an inscription that loosely translates to "Yeshua bar Yosef" ( Jesus son of Joseph ). While skeptics argue that the name was common during the time period, researchers point out a series of peculiar coinciden...

Formative Assessment And Specific Examples

How Formative Assessment Can Enhance Learning Outcomes

Assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning process. It allows teachers and students to monitor and evaluate the progress and achievement of learning goals. However, not all assessments are the same. There are two main types of classroom assessment: formative and summative. In this blog post, I will focus on formative assessment and how it can enhance learning outcomes for students.

How Formative Assessment Can Enhance Learning Outcomes

What is Formative Assessment?

Formative assessment is a type of assessment that is used during the learning process to provide feedback and guidance to both teachers and students. It is also known as assessment for learning and assessment as learning. According to the UNESCO Program on Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable Future (UNESCO-TLSF), formative assessment refers to the ongoing forms of assessment that are closely linked to the learning process. It is characteristically informal and is intended to help students identify strengths and weaknesses in order to learn from the assessment experience.

Formative assessment can be given at any time during the teaching and learning process. It is also a way to check the effectiveness of instruction. Formative assessment involves teachers using evidence about what learners know and can do to inform and improve their teaching. Teachers observe and guide learners in their tasks through interaction and dialogue, thus gaining deeper insights into the learners’ progress, strengths, weaknesses, and needs. The results of formative assessments will help teachers make good instructional decisions so that their lessons are better suited to the learners’ abilities. It is important for teachers to record formative assessment by documenting and tracking learners’ progress using systematic ways that can easily provide insight into a student’s learning. Such monitoring will allow teachers to understand their students and thus teach them better. Formative assessment results, however, are not included in the computation of summative assessment.

Formative assessment must also provide students with immediate feedback on how well they are learning throughout the teaching-learning process. Recommendations on how they can improve themselves should also be given by the teachers. Formative assessment enables students to take responsibility for their learning, and identify areas where they do well and where they need help. As a result, students will appreciate and make their own decisions about their progress.

Why is Formative Assessment Important?

Formative assessment is important because it can enhance learning outcomes for students in various ways. Some of the benefits of formative assessment are:

  • It helps students to become more aware of their own learning process and goals, and to develop self-regulation and metacognitive skills.
  • It motivates students to engage more actively and deeply in their learning, and to seek feedback and improvement.
  • It fosters a positive and supportive learning environment, where students feel valued and respected, and where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning.
  • It builds a collaborative and cooperative relationship between teachers and students, where they share expectations and feedback, and where they work together to achieve common goals.
  • It aligns the curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and ensures that the learning objectives and outcomes are clear and relevant to the students.
  • It provides evidence of learning and achievement, and informs the next steps for teaching and learning.

How to Implement Formative Assessment?

Formative assessment can be implemented in various ways, depending on the context, purpose, and nature of the learning activity. Some of the common methods of formative assessment are:

  • Observation: Teachers observe students’ behavior, performance, and interactions during the learning activity, and provide feedback and guidance accordingly.
  • Questioning: Teachers ask questions to elicit students’ understanding, reasoning, and opinions, and to stimulate their thinking and curiosity.
  • Discussion: Teachers and students engage in dialogue and exchange of ideas, perspectives, and feedback, and to deepen their understanding and learning.
  • Self-assessment: Students reflect on their own learning process and outcomes, and identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
  • Peer-assessment: Students assess each other’s work and provide constructive feedback and suggestions, and to learn from each other.
  • Portfolio: Students collect and showcase their work and achievements over time, and to demonstrate their progress and growth.
  • Rubric: Teachers and students use a set of criteria and standards to evaluate the quality and level of students’ work and performance, and to provide feedback and grades.
  • Checklist: Teachers and students use a list of items or indicators to monitor and track students’ completion and attainment of learning tasks and goals, and to provide feedback and support.

Examples of Formative Assessment

Here are some examples of how formative assessment can be used in different subject areas and grade levels:

  • Math: Teachers use observation and questioning to check students’ understanding and application of mathematical concepts and skills, such as fractions, decimals, and percentages. Teachers provide feedback and scaffolding to help students solve problems and explain their solutions. Students use self-assessment and peer-assessment to review their work and correct their errors. Teachers use rubrics and checklists to assess students’ performance and progress on mathematical tasks and projects, such as creating graphs, charts, and tables.
  • Science: Teachers use observation and questioning to check students’ understanding and inquiry of scientific concepts and phenomena, such as the water cycle, the solar system, and the human body. Teachers provide feedback and guidance to help students conduct experiments and investigations, and to record and analyze their data and findings. Students use self-assessment and peer-assessment to reflect on their learning and to improve their scientific skills and attitudes, such as curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Teachers use portfolios and rubrics to assess students’ performance and progress on scientific tasks and projects, such as creating models, posters, and reports.
  • Language: Teachers use observation and questioning to check students’ understanding and communication of language concepts and skills, such as grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Teachers provide feedback and scaffolding to help students practice and improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students use self-assessment and peer-assessment to evaluate their work and to enhance their language proficiency and fluency. Teachers use rubrics and checklists to assess students’ performance and progress on language tasks and projects, such as creating stories, poems, and presentations.

Formative assessment is a powerful tool that can enhance learning outcomes for students. It can help students to become more aware, motivated, and engaged in their learning, and to develop self-regulation and metacognitive skills. It can also help teachers to understand their students better, and to provide feedback and guidance that are tailored to their needs and abilities. Formative assessment can be implemented in various ways, depending on the context, purpose, and nature of the learning activity. By using formative assessment effectively, teachers and students can work together to achieve their learning goals and to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.

Understanding Grade Transmutation in DepEd

Understanding Grade Transmutation in DepEd In the Philippine education system, grade transmutation is the process of converting raw scores into equivalent grades. This ensures consistency and fairness when assessing student performance. DepEd follows specific guidelines for transmuting grades, allowing educators to evaluate students objectively. How Does Grade Transmutation Work? Initial Grades : Students receive raw scores (usually out of 100) for their assessments, exams, and projects. These initial grades serve as the basis for transmutation. Transmuted Grades : To convert initial grades into transmuted grades, DepEd uses a predefined scale. Let’s take a closer look at the scale: Table Initial Grade Range Transmuted Grade 100 100 98.40 – 99.99 99 96.80 – 98.39 98 … … 68.00 – 69.59 80 Below 68.00 60 Interpreting the Scale : For example, if a student scores between 98.40 and 99.99, their transmuted grade will be 99.
