Under House Bill 1851, the minimum salary grade level for teachers would jump from Salary Grade 11 to 19, significantly boosting their take-home pay. This aligns with President Marcos Jr.'s campaign promise of increased compensation for teachers, a testament to the growing recognition of their critical role in building the nation's future.
The proposed raise wouldn't stand alone. Rep. Villafuerte emphasizes that it complements another bill, House Bill 9682, which seeks to increase the annual teaching allowance from P5,000 to P10,000 over a two-year period.
