August 30, 2024 - The Department of Education (DepEd) and iamtheCODE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Thursday to open doors for Filipino women and spark their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Design (STEAMD) fields. Through this partnership, iamtheCODE will provide coding skills lessons to female high school students in selected pilot schools. This substantial increase from the previous Php 500 allowance will allow teachers to avail of HMO-type benefits, providing them with more comprehensive healthcare coverage. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved Executive Order No. 64, s. 2024, which grants the medical allowance to all eligible government civilian personnel, including public school teachers.
