Double Pay Hike for Government Workers Starting January 2025

August 02, 2024 - Government employees are set to receive a much-needed boost in their salaries as the government prepares to implement two tranches of salary increases starting January 2025.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allocated a hefty P70 billion in the proposed P6.352-trillion 2025 national budget to fund the salary adjustments for state workers. This allocation will cover both the first and second tranches of the planned four-year salary increase program.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman clarified that while the funds for both tranches will be included in the 2025 budget, the first salary hike will be retroactive, covering the entire year 2024. This means government employees will receive the adjusted salary rate for both 2024 and 2025 starting next year.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has prioritized the welfare of government workers and has vowed to implement a four-tranche salary adjustment initiative from 2024 to 2027. The DBM is currently finalizing the executive order for this program.

The salary increase is expected to benefit over 1.3 million government employees, including teachers, lawyers, and other professionals. The DBM aims to improve the compensation of government workers to be more competitive with the private sector.

With this development, government employees can look forward to a substantial increase in their income, providing much-needed relief and boosting their morale.
