July 10, 2024 – After being featured as a demo sport in the previous edition, Dancesport is set to make its official debut as a regular sport in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa. The prestigious national sporting event, scheduled from July 9 to 16, will showcase Dancesport disciplines including Waltz, Tango, Samba, Chachacha, and Rumba.

With this elevation, Dancesport will now be part of the official medal tally, recognizing the achievements of elementary and secondary level dancers. Approximately 24 medal events will be contested, celebrating the best talents in this captivating sport.
The venue for Dancesport competitions will be the G Mall of Cebu, situated on A. Soriano Avenue in Cebu City. Alongside Dancesport, the 2024 Palaro will also feature Soft Tennis, Karatedo, Football (Secondary Girls), and Esports as Exhibition Sports. These exhibition sports are being promoted by the national sports association (NSA) for potential inclusion in future Palaro editions.
Excitingly, this year’s Palaro introduces new awards for outstanding delegations. The top five performing regions and the champion region per sport will receive recognition. Additionally, an award will be given to the most bemedalled Schools Division Office, acknowledging the efforts of local government units (LGUs) in supporting learner-athletes and the entire delegation.
Beyond the 17 regions across the Philippines, the National Academy of Sports (NAS) and Philippine Schools Overseas (PSO) will participate as separate delegations in Cebu. Hosted by Cebu City, the Palaro events will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube, allowing fans and supporters to follow the action remotely.
